In early 2016, VentureFounders successfully supported Micrima in a £2.6 million equity raise, alongside institutional shareholders including Swarraton, Technology Venture Partners and the Angel CoFund.
Due to the harmful nature of radiation, X-ray mammograms are not routinely used on younger women. Micrima aims to solve this problem through its proprietary imaging technology which uses harmless radio waves and make breast cancer detection safer, more comfortable, more accessible and more economically viable.
Through clinical trials, its technology has already been shown to be particularly effective at detecting cancers in younger, pre-menopausal women.
The funds raised will be used to commence commercialisation in 2016 and develop further functionality.
